Kate and Dan share a love for helping others and enjoy growing in their recovery together. They have built a life together that neither could have envisioned in their younger years. They try to make the most out of each day in their new lives, and practice gratitude for the gifts and opportunities they have received and continue to receive. They have a farm with several animals including a horse, two donkeys, cats, dogs, and chickens. Kate will eventually get her way, and they will also have cows and pigs (and probably goats and ducks). They also love to travel, attend sporting events, and watch Dan’s terrible movie selections. Their paths intersected as they entered the helping fields at Keystone Treatment Center. For Dan, it was love at first sight. For Kate, well, she just thought that Dan was very strange and was way too happy. Luckily for Dan, his (annoyingly) good attitude eventually won her over and they have been together ever since. Even though Dan has since started working full-time at another counseling location, their bond grows stronger through their continued effort and devotion to each other and God. Though Kate’s immediate family will not be in physical attendance, she has built a loving and dysfunctional group of “extended family” that includes her relatives, close friends, her home AA group, Eagles members, and Keystone coworkers. Both Dan and Kate greatly appreciate the love and support they receive from their friends and family and are excited to share this moment with everyone as they move forward in wedded bliss.
